Oh dear! Hah, well, a drake is not in my near future either. I study ducks and though I have never kept them, I know they can be overly amorous!

I will keep my ear to the ground and try to make smart, informed decisions about any roo I might give a second chance.

As not to drift too far away from Derperella (that's why most of us are here, right?)...

I am happy to report that my beautiful Handsome Boy has found a new home & he will be living the high life on Cape Cod, as soon as the storm blows thru next week.

We now return you to our beloved Derperella.....!

It would be really hard for me to get a single rooster of any breed, unless someone local to me has one! I can't order just one chicken/roo from anywhere (and I'd like to avoid hatcheries for personal reasons anyhow) and there are not many people that keep chickens in my area. Someone local to me has cochin boys that desperately need a home, which is why I was asking about cochins. If she had Faverolles boys instead, I'd be asking about them. So I am going to try one and give one of her cochins a second chance. I will hope that he is a stereotypical sweet cochin boy!
