People have different viewpoints on this. I think of it more as getting a skinned knee when riding a bike. Painful, but not death causing. Of course animals can die of casterations but if done properly it is more of a skinned knee with active birds immediately afterwards.

Personally, I just feed mine up and make broth and chicken stock out of them.
