Thanks! I think it helps to get an idea of what you're getting when it's a mix

I could be wrong but your rooster looks like a partridge rock to me. I know mcmurray sells them. He doesn't look as stout as their catalog pictures make them out to be but their catalog pictures are what the ideal specimen is.

Offer:

6+ "Barnyard Surprise" Eggs

The Lone Rooster: McMurray Mystery Chick - he's a BIG BOY (shout out if you recognize the breed because I haven't figured it out yet!)

His Hens: White Plymouth Rock, White Leghorn, Buff Orphington, Welsummer, RIR, Silchen

I've only set the Buff Orp eggs so far but I'm getting 100% hatch rate here at home. Ol' Nocrow & Buff are mostly throwing little solid black chicks that look like him but I get fat yellow ones now and then. This is my first hatching season with this roo.

"Nocrow" McMurray Mystery Chick

I think your rooster might be an EE.

It doesn't look like an EE either. It has the wrong comb type and is missing a beard and muffs. Granted, EEs don't always have a pea comb or muffs and a beard as they do not have a standard, but it's something that those birds typically have.

McMurray does sell EE's, but I think Jeremy is right about the muff and comb. I've often wondered if the wrong roo wandered into the wrong henyard at McMurry

I sent them an email with photos to see if they could (or would) identify it but I never heard back. They're probably bombarded with those kind of emails!

I guess in about 5 months I'll at least have some idea of egg color from those I've incubated
