DESIGNER EGG CHAIN

I just found this thread and wondered also. Is there another thread for this. I just love mixes and would really like to do some swaps.

I don't think so, that would be a duplicate thread. I'm interested too as I have some mixed but am looking for specific crosses not just a bunch of different breed all thrown in together. That to me is not a designer(JMHO). They need to be so and so breed x so and so breed. I keep watch on this one. Just waiting for the right one.

What kind of crosses do you have?

I just started with my crosses. I had to really think for a long time on if I wanted mixes or SQ pures. So after much debate I decided to keep my silkie pen pure and play with only small numbers. My goal is to eventually have large heavily feathered legs, large crests, and colored eggs. I want giant fluffy Mountain Top Ewoks. lol

Play pen 1 is colored sultans( I am mixing polish)
Play pen 2 is Blue Marans/ Blue Cochin
Play pen 3 Wheaten Ameracaunas/ White Silkie

I do not have these play pens so to say they are just ideas right now on the chickens I have. I have started on the colored sultans though. Their combs are close enough that nothing to crazy is gonna hatch out. I have under a broody now a Java/Cochin mix so that should be interesting.

I am slowly going to try and combine all the traits I am looking for with feathering and egg color and then will work on size. I see lots of feathery mixes on here but never ones that are for sale, so I was excited about this thread. I worry about the combs and wattles turning out strange. I would love to find someone who already has some good full size cochin mixes with crests. I have seen some jaw dropping beauties and I have seen some really ugly ones, so I am a little timid and have only been experimenting a few eggs at a time.

What are you working on?

How are the Cochins in regards to type?

I saw the pics but due to the angles and the way they were standing couldn't tell for sure on type. Are they round fluff balls or do they have more of a v or u shaped back?
