Have you tried the bucket method? It works well for us with mice, and I know another member has used it for rats and opossums.

They use a five gallon bucket with a dowelrod ran through near the top of the bucket with a plastic bottle that spins on the dowel rod. They can work at first but the rodents quickly learn to avoid the trap.
