It took me two years to master the art of nitrate reduction. I have gone from 55-90-280, all the while battling bryopsis, starfish, coral nibblers, and a myriad of other problems. I even had a total crash in the 90 that made me throw 140lbs of live rock in the yard. When it hit me that that rock cost me $15/pound, I promptly gathered up the rock, cured it in the garage for two weeks, and started over from scratch. Now you want me to go aerobic?

I always wanted a salt water aquarium.
they're easier than a pond , once established ... i don't know a LOT about SW ... you can find a LOT of reliable resources on the net..if you ever get into it, i'd be more than happy to pm sources i've learned to trust..but i am VERY rusty w/ SW.... (know what i need to know kind of thing)....but they are fun.... can end up being more expensive than a backyard pond tho

Protein skimmers, sumps, live rock, water changes....
I have more in my current tank than I spent on my first 3 cars

i almost choked on my lemonade (mike's :D ) when i read that .... on long island, i raised koi for over 20 yrs (a backyard business since 1998 and similarly i did not bring in ANY fish since may of '99 -- bred my own,blahblahblah))... while SERIOUS koi diseases only scratch the surface when compared to poultry, i've earned the reputation as THE koi-nazi ... i really haven't updated the website longislandkoi.com , and i've toned it down a LOT over the years, but you'll get the idea lol -- i wouldn't let people walk in the yard with a water sample (seriously, a drop of water from a contaminated pond could've put me out of business) -- i would teach them HOW to test... if anybody needed help, i would do what i could --- within reason

golfish are easier than koi, that can of whoop-@$s can be opened when you mix the two (your goldies will be fine tho

Oh My, I got out of Koi about 6 years ago, right in the middle of so many friend's coming down with KHV...and you are so right about the diseases !
I am avoiding any cattle too, although I'd love to have a few......................
