destruction and disposal orders HELP

We live in high-crime Los Angeles County outskirts so we don't answer random knocks on the door. After the block wall and iron fence goes completely around the property they'll have to climb 6 feet to get into our yard to knock or ring the bell! Even now if someone we know wants to come by they know to call first - most will call again when they're at the front door LOL. No, we're not lunatics because after the Richard Ramirez serial murder scare in the '80s we don't leave the windows open overnight anymore either. I figure if someone is rude enough to stop by unannounced they deserve rudeness in return.

wow you need to move !!!

You are living in the freak zone, full of every kind of crudy human imaginable...gangs, drugs, dips......thieves..................... I grew up there in between Air Force transfers...................I left in the 70s, and I went back in 2000 to take care of my Granmother & I could not believe the over populated insanity there ! Nuts ! And no one gives it a second thought to wildlife, cleanliness or water....it is sick how those people trash their own world.
You, probably need to leave & find a better place to live ! Before you are a statistic !
People with big brick walls emit a signal to the freaks: That you have something to protect, and the freaks want it....be careful my friend !

Edited to add: Apology for getting way off topic...............

Too old (retired for several years now) so can't really move again though we do have a vacation acre in NoCalif but no money to build. We're thankfully a long distance from Los Angeles city limits and have two nice suburban cities surrounding us and maybe one that is not so nice. The fencing will make a big difference with extra privacy fencing added to the tops. Mainly it will be to keep out mischievous kids that want an easy jump over, or stray frontlawn-pooping mutts, or peddlers knocking on the door uninvited. Now if there was just a way to block the jillions of robo-calls on the phones!!!!! As for crime, it is everywhere, and as my 98-y/o Mom said, "you can't really count on being safe anywhere anymore!" With so much crude element we won't go to parks or camping anymore. People let their mutts and kids run loose, excess drinking, loudness, no manners or respect. Even 5-star hotels are unpleasant - OMG I've turned into my mother!

I had no tresspassing signs I hand painted, on a half a sheet of plywood, with 12" letters at the base of my driveway.
One day a cop car can ripping up the driveway & stopped & presented me with a letter containing a BILL for the uniform trousers my female Labrador supposedly attacked & ripped when the officer walked up to my door & knocked one day..................
I asked him how the heck that happened when no one has permission to go on my land, sign is posted, and no officer IS ABOVE THE LAW .unless he is called, he had no permission, and my female Lab & her 8 puppies on my front porch did not like any strangers.....LOL
Good Dog ! Darn good dog !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cop left, and I never saw him again.

This was in Idaho, not Washington.

You are lucky he didn't shoot your dog. Many a pet has been shot while in their yard or even leashed just for barking at police officers. Seems like I read about that weekly now. Heaven forbid I ever have to call them out here for any reason. My little pekatease might be shot dead for trying to lick them to death. My little pom the same. He will growl at you while he licks your hand.
They can go on your property anytime they have a reason to. Whether they are searching for someone or something. People have been shot in their own backyard by police who were looking for someone and the poor house owner was out there with their own protection investigating the noise they were hearing in their backyard. Police saw the gun in their hand and shot them dead.

You'll never guess who came knocking on our door today - Saturday - Our yearly Animal Control uniformed agent (looked like a Sheriff with badge and all) tracking down every house asking how many dogs were in the households. I told him I didn't have any dogs and in fact am putting up a fence to keep the stray neighborhood mutts off my lawn. He was amused and went on his way with clipboard in hand. Half the front lawns in our neighborhood are fenced and locked so I wonder how many households he reached. He didn't bother asking about neighbor dogs and I didn't volunteer info.

I agree with Mrs.Bachbach - it's more likely the officer will shoot a dog just because "he felt threatened by it." I'm guessing a lot of these officers are either afraid of dogs, or hate them. It must harder to shoot a cat, I haven't heard of them doing that yet.

Is there some local law that gives them the authority to ask such questions?
Are there census takers for pets now??

My cats skeedaddle if someone comes knocking on the door. Well, a couple of them do. Cats come in all makes. Some sit and stare, some sleep, some approach to rub your leg, and some skeedaddle!

I have heard some stories to that effect, but for the most part, out in the backwoods boonies of North Idaho, you do not want to trespass, even if you are a police officer...or maybe you do not want to tresspass especially if you are a police officer.

You don't go strolling through any woods, especially if it is deer or elk season, unless you are in a state or federal Park.
