Good morning fellow chicken lovers
I have 24 shipped polish eggs and all 24 have detached, rolling air cells. I let them come to room temp for 24 hours, then I set them in the incubator in the egg turner but did not turn the turner on. They have been in the incubator for 2 days now. I know there are different schools of thought and I am very torn with what to do with this hatch. These eggs are VERY important to me. I searched for this kind of Polish for 9 months. I’m thinking of plugging the turner in after day 5 and then stopping turning on day 16 and placing them in cut down egg cartons for lockdown on day 18. Thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🐣

With my duck eggs I let them sit for 24 hours and then I didn’t not turn them for about 4-5 days. 3 out of the 11 are left and their air cells reattached. The others were scrambled from shipping.

I just have shipped eggs but it’s the only way to get what u want sometimes. I hope your last 3 make it! My thought is that after day 5, if they aren’t going to settle by then, they probably won’t. I’d really rather turn them after the initial 5 days and am actually scared NOT to turn them. My fear is having them stuck to the egg by lockdown if they weren’t turned at all. I’m so torn with this hatch. Ughhh...to turn or not to turn...

I kept mine in egg carton and I tilt the carton opposite directions 3x a day in the beginning. Now that I’m on day 21 of my duck eggs I leave them tilted and twist them since there is only 3. Shipped eggs are my only source until my start to lay hopefully sooner than later. I actually have barred rock eggs coming today. I kinda of followed what was written in this if you find it helpful at all.

I’ve been following the advise from that link as well for my shipped eggs all of which had completely detached air cells on arrival. So far all seven of them are viable and going strong! I set them for about 14 hours big end up and cut down egg cartons into pairs of two. I took the auto turner out of my incubator and set them in there with some clean rocks to help maintain the temp when it was time to rotate them. I didn’t touch them at all for the first seven days. On day seven we candled them and saw little wiggling embryos in all seven! I cried with joy! Since day seven I have been gently tipping them slightly from side to side and rotating a bit three times a day. Tomorrow is day fourteen and we will candle them again. There are no bad smells or anything so I’m praying all is well. I’ll post an update!

Well, three of the seven didn’t make it when I checked them at day 14. I checked the last 4 again at day 18 and all four were still going strong though one was looking pretty small but moving a ton. Definitely saw movement in all four. Today is day 19 and two of the four were rocking back and forth a TON! I’m going nuts hoping all four hatch successfully! 🤞🏻🤦🏼‍♀️ I am definitely struggling with not adjusting them over and over. They are locked down and now we wait... 🙏🏻

I do want to mention that I did decide to lay them on their sides after day 14 and let the auto turner do it’s thing after reading an scientific article that said to absolutely turn them even if it’s gently from day one or it would mess them up. I’m going to let them hatch on their sides as well.

Here’s the link to the article. I’m definitely wishing I had turned them at least a little the first week...

Ah they're hatching!! :wee
I've never heard of plugging in the turner late. Is this typical? I've just been starting it on day 0 with the heat
