I am on day 10 of incubation and the one egg that started with a detached air cell is progressing quite nicely. I can see the embryo and it is moving and looks healthy other than the detached air cell. I have had it in the turner the entire time. I really didn't think it would make it, but I figured I would try and just see what happens. Now that there is obviously a little life form in there I am wanting to make sure I give it the best chance. Should I take it out of the turner at this point? I think I am going to hatch it in an egg cup with the pointy end down just to make sure the air cell remains in the proper location. Any other issues that this embryo might face that a normal one would not? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there, glad to hear your egg is doing so well. I got Serama and Silkie eggs in the mail that came with several damaged and detached air sacs. I left all of mine upright in the turner until the appropriate numbered day to put them in the hatcher. I also put ours in the bottom of pulp egg cartons to hatch. It worked great and they are all healthy and well. I wouldn't take it out of the turner until it's time to go into lockdown. I will say we did have an issue with two of the Seramas once they had pipped and needed to assist. One was breech, sideways and the other was a sticky chick that was also glued to itself. Hope that helps!
