My chick just hatched and I noticed there's yolk on the bottom of my incubator and its not attached to the chick. This is my first time incubating and i dont know what to do or if it'll survive =/

If it is not attached to the chick the chick may still be alright. It is more of a problem if it appears attached and hanging.

! Pleased you joined us! I'm a rookie hatcher so I don't have any advice....but this folks in this link sure will:

Good luck to you and your chick!

Thank you! And the chick seems to be doing fine but since the yolk sac didn't absorb does that mean it'll start eating earlier?

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

I have never had that happen when I hatched chicks but I always had chick starter available for everyone within a day or so anyway. As long as it eats it should be fine.

Good luck to you and your little chick

I'd suggest you keep the chick on a very clean cloth or some paper towels at first and apply some antibacterial cream/ointment (without painkiller) to her navel area to prevent infection.. If there is anything attached to the navel leave it, do not pull it off. It may cause bleeding and prolong the healing period.
