1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Cream Legbar female...few weeks old. Avg size for age.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
She had been the spitfire of the 8 chick brood, but she suddenly went lethargic a couple days ago. She is breathing heavy, sleeping while the others are active, and has her wings fluffed out like she's hot. It was only in the upper 70s today and she is feathered out the least of my birds.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
36-48hrs
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
They've been out in the yard more frequently for the first time in their lives this week. Cocci maybe?
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
Mannapro medicated chick starter. Also some regular fermented feed.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
The poop I saw her drop last night looked normal. Small, brown, and dry.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
Nothing
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
I have Corid on hand and they have been on medicated feed. I also have some leftover sulfatrim, but probably not enough for a 7-14 day treatment unless I cit the dose down. I believe I was giving 1/2mL to a hen previously...not sure what you'd give a 3-4 week old chick.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Pine shavings

I grt this bad feeling I'm going to lose her unless I act. If I give her the Corid do I do the .024% on a chick that small or do the .012%? Should I try to tube feed her some of the Corid mixture tonight? She's eating, but doesn't seem to eat as much as the others. Thanks.

If you have the Corid liquid, give her a couple of drops orally twice a day. If you have the powder, mix 1 1/2 tsp of it in 2 tsp or 10 ml of water, and give the same amount twice a day. Mix 1 1/2 tsp of the powder or 2 tsp of the liquid Corid, per gallon of water, and treat all birds the same age at once. She could just be dehydrated or suffering from some other problem, but since Corid is so safe, I would treat her. In the meantime, coax her to drink water, look her over for lice or mites, and check her crop to see if it is empty, or if it is full, hard, or balloon-like, there may be a crop problem. The crop can slow down emptying during a bout with illness.

okay...so a couple of drops of the straight Corid twice per day in addition to the 10mL/gal in the water solution? The 9% solution is fine to give on its own like that?

A little update...

We've been taking some of your advice and have been giving her a few straight drops of Corid once/day in addition to just 1tsp/gal in their water rather than the 2tsp/gal. She has been acting like her normal self all weekend although the weather was a bit cooler too (which all of the birds have enjoyed). So we'll probably keep doing this for another few days and then just keep them on a treatment dose of Corid in their water for the rest of the week. My last bag of medicated feed is almost gone so I'll finish that off once I stop the Corid in the water and just give them the fermented feed in the meantime. I'll give another update later in the week because I know I always appreciate people giving updates when I'm researching the archives for answers.

Thank you for the update. I'm glad that she is acting normal again. After Corid is done, it may benefit them to have some probiotics and vitamins in the water or food for a couple more days.
