I know how close you were to Hawkeye. I remember when you rescued him and spent so much time and love nursing him back to health as he had been so neglected when he was young. Do not beat yourself up about this, you do not know if this had anything to do with any treatment you administered to him. This could just be a result of the earlier abuses and malnutrition he suffered, he could have had something hidden wrong with him and it is just coincidence that he passed at this time. You have to wonder if maybe his girls knew something was wrong with him, leading them to pick at him... animals have a strange ability that way and we usually read the signs too late.

Oh dear how sad. Are you SURE that's what caused it? If if makes you feel any better, I was so glad that we had Whitey's son Jack Frost, after Whitey was killed. We were so sad when Whitey died. But now that Jack Frost is older, it amazes me how many of Whitey's characteristics and mannerisms he has. It is so strange (and rewarding)...makes me feel like Whitey's still here in spirit, although JF has a lot of his own funny personality quirks, too. I hope you have the same experience.
