Devastated-Hawkeye is Dead..

Cynthia,
I just heard. There are no words that could heal. I know that God has something in store, but what, is anyone's guess.

He was awesome. If one of his 15 day old chicks is a boy, I will name him Hawkeye Jr. if it pleases you, or will ship him to you for your own.

I cannot even fathom the pain you must feel and offer you hugs and prayers and chicken parent's love.

Here are three of Hawkeye's babies at 7 days old:

Sure, here's an old thread from 2007 about how Hawkeye came to live with us: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16159

, you keep those babies. They're very special! And don't worry. I have four Hawkeye babies in the incubator right now. Zane will hopefully have one or two brothers and sisters join his flock in the near future.

Cynthia, I am so very sorry for your loss, I had absolutely fallen in love with his name and your explanation for it, he was the most beautiful rooster I had ever seen. I wish I were able to help in some way.
Best wishes and prayers,
Amber

Thank you, Amber. I remember telling you about that just recently, too. Life sure throws curveballs and this one just about did me in. I still can't believe it. At least he has sons and daughters across the country with other BYC members to carry on his legacy.
