Devastated! Warning Graphical

I used 16' hog panels, attached them with hog rings, then used fence staples to secure to 2x6 frame, covered with chicken wire and hog ringed then a tarp.

Sorry I'm rambling on, it too quiet now, my son and I are very distraught. There has been a bird dog reported running loose, that's what I shot at in the goats area. Will they do this to chickens and ducks?
Dogs are VERY dangerous to chickens except in the rare cases that they've been raised with them and TRAINED to never go after the chickens.

I know you're devastated and it's perfectly normal, but take a deep breath, try to relax, and then start to do your investigation into the SECURITY of your run/coop. I think you're going to find your answer for how this happened there... :-(

Let us know what you find when you're ready.

As I understand hog panels, they have 6" x 6" square holes in them or something along those dimensions. Is that correct? If so, look for breaches in the chicken wire attached to the inside of your panels, especially close to the ground.

Also, is it possible that a door was left open overnight? I think most folks on this forum have done that at one time or another, me included.

In the photos you've provided, photo #1 (with the carnage) appears to show a run area that is much larger than what I can see in photos #2 and #3. Are photos #2 and #3 a general idea of what you have or the actual structure you're using?

Also,
I am so sorry for your losses. I've had half a flock die in one night, but I can't imagine an ENTIRE flock. Keep us updated please, it could teach some people on here a lesson or two. We learn from each others mistakes- that's what I love about BackYard Chickens.
Wishing you a healthy restoration of a new, healthy, lively, and prolific egg-laying flock.

Photo 1 is her old coop
Photo 2 and 3 are the new coops she is building.
