Devastated! Warning Graphical

Pics
We once lost a rooster who was free-ranging, he disappeared without a trace, no blood or anything. But we went back into our forest property and found three neatly stacked feather piles.

From that day forward, we never knew or found out what happened
But that was a few years ago.

Do you think that's the animal that got your flock? You never reported back to us about your inspection of your coop/run. Did you find any breaches in the security???
You've got the right idea.
Please, tell us these facts, @jastech. This is one of the most important parts of a predator investigation.

One of my Black Copper Marans is dead.
I am so sorry you are going through this, I give you my deepest condolences. :hugs

Have you gotten in contact with animal control?
In a city of 250+/- we don't have animal control. I offered to volunteer, city mayor said "NO". I called Sheriff dept to complain, was told to take to our city council. My son and I went looking for missing Muscovy's and seen main council women's vehicle at her house. My son said "Dad, let's tell her as Deputy Sheriff said to do. So I pulled up drive, son and I got out, walked up to door. I knocked, her husband answered and asked What do you need his wife for?" So I told him, he then told me to take up to council meeting (3rd Tuesday of each month) and never come on his property again.

How rude!
Has anyone else tried to complain? Any other farmers?

Would they carry 15 in one time? The drake was around 20 lbs. Plus the hen and young is about 80 lbs. of birds.
We have a lot of coyotes here but rarely see them.We hear them more often than actually see them. This years pups have to learn how to hunt before they can make it on their own this winter or they'll starve. The young ones are bolder.

I lost five RIRs last December in a dog attack. It was a husky. They kill for the fun of it, unlike coyotes that kill for food. Your picture looks like a dog attack. BTW, we live in a rural no-leash area, but were informed by sheriff's deputy we can protect our livestock. The dog is no longer a threat (dead) and our neighbors are relieved.

We had coyotes kill 2 goats. Actually they maimed them first. Looked like dogs from a distance but they definitely weren't dogs. I think I'd definitely be adding an electric wire or two around your enclosure.
