I found some clip on, red flashing led lights at the Amish store for $3. They are the kind you can put on a bicycle or a buggy. They run on 2 AA battieries. I have not had any problems with night predators. I got them all over the yard and use rechargeables. It is alot cheaper then nite guard.
It is better to have several pointing in all directions.
Several on here have said that a 12 gauge works and it does, but i don't know anybody who sits up all night watching their coop with a gun in their hand. you gotta sleep sometime. I lock my coop up like fort knox at night regardless...
