Hi I want to raise this breed of goose can someone tell me advantages, disadvantages of this breed, where is the best place to get them and pics are always great.

This is not a great time to find young ones so you may be looking for a while. Holderread in Oregon is reputed to have great stock and do sell some grown birds. I purchased four from Windchyme on this board and they seem to be great. They grow more quickly than you can imagine.
I chose not to inprint mine, but feed them twice a day everyday and try to spend a few minutes in the pen with them. I have found my group to be very very skittish to the point of crashing into corners etc. no matter how often I come to the pen.
they are now about 16 weeks old and are getting a bit better. It seems as though it is just like when chicks freak out when they are very young I just dont expect it from these large birds it is hard to remember that they are just babies.
They are beautiful birds and I do not regret getting them for one moment. I am sure they will calm down as they mature.
It is my understanding that these birds can live for a very long time, up to 30 to 40 years. I do not have any pictures of mine at this time.

Mine are almost 2 now and they are great. They have always been friendly and seek attention, Their talk is a bit different than the other geese - a bit more of a chitter (fast machine gun bursts of chatter). LOL Now grown up, they can honk with the best of the geese, but still do the chitter thing for attention.
They get along well with the other geese, but do stay together almost all of the time.
Ummm, I will sell mine if anyone wants them. Just need to thin out before winter.

I have another question can you breed buff and gray together?
I have a pair and I love them. They are completely tame. I can't wait for goslings this spring. Last spring the male was very sick and didn't breed so now I have a bunch of mixed dewlap toulouse and embdens/buffs. They are HUGE. But ugly. LOL.
Jim Zimmerman out of Kansas has excellent birds and he does sell at shows.
