Not much has changed in the last few days. Daisy is a more active and eating more, but she still hasn’t passed the egg. I’m concerned surgery may be her only course of action.
And as if that wasn’t enough, my 2 year old black Australorp Tulip is acting the exact same way as Daisy (her urates and stool are normal and her color is good, she’s just aloof and her appetite is down, even for treats). I only have 4 hens, and 1 already had her oviduct removed last year, so what are the chances that 2 of my 3 layers are egg bound at the same time?? I’m hoping Tulip is just off due to molting, but if she doesn’t lay over the weekend or start eating more/ being her usual active self I’m afraid she will be heading in to the vet as well.
They have layer feed, oyster shells on the side, and crushed eggshells on the side in addition to feather fixer available all the time. All my hens are the same age but different breeds. Nothing has changed so I’m not sure what is going on with my flock. So stressful!!
