Dewormer for Chickens

“To use the cream, gel, or lotion form of this medicine:
?? Tretinoin is a topical treatment for human acne, that's not at all relevant to orally dosing chickens of varying sizes with Fenbendazole.

I was just repeating some of the things I had read
If you don't know it's true, then don't repeat it.

Sorry, this was just an example of measurement. It's definitely not recommended for dewormer!
Doesn't apply to the topic of chicken dewormers, then don't post it in a thread of that topic.

The pea size thing for Safeguard is an outdated dosage recommendation. Because it may not be practical to weigh all birds for treatment some folks do an average dose (so weigh a few birds of similar size/build and then dose all the birds that are similar with 1 dose, repeat for birds of different sizes/build) so maybe that's where the idea of a 1 dose fits all came from.

Last time I wormed I did weigh all the birds as my youngest birds were quite light so my dosages varied from .625 to 1.75 ml.

I was veterinary for 5 years.
Not all dosing is the same for different sized animals.
If you do not dose the right amount for the weight you could end up under dosing and just wasting product because it will not have the effect that is desired.
It might be annoying to weigh the chicken but you’d at least have a better idea of the correct dose to actually rid the chicken of parasites.

Rarley needed, especially in a dry climate such as yours.
Best not to treat chickens for anything unless you are sure they have it.
Fecal testing can be had at most vets, call around and ask.

There are only 2 worms you'll see in poops, large round worms and tape worm segments.

Gape worms are very rare in the US...'choking' can have many causes, don't jump to conclusions.

Even more rare for a worm to show up in a chicken egg.
Is gapeworm really rare in the us? I’ve been falling into the internet for hours worrying about my chickens having gapeworm and not knowing if they’re just adjusting their crop or something

Valbazen I like the most 1/2 cc 10 days later repeat to insure eggs are killed.afther that I give it every 30 days.
