Has anyone used Diatomaceous Earth food grade to deworm their chickens. I just saw something online about it. If you do is there a egg withdraw time? Does it work?

Just wondering. I have seen suggestions for safe guard but if this works it will be easier to deworm the whole flock with this. Thanks

It does not work. DE works on some bugs by drawing moisture out of them and killing them through water loss. So it only works if it's dry. It's not dry inside a chicken :p

Of the two options, Safeguard is definitely the better one. And make sure you don't try to do the method with putting it in water, because that doesn't really work either unless you're buying the really expensive Aquasol version.

Pyxis is correct. DE will not prevent nor treat worms, a waste of money. There are a variety of effective wormers on the market for chickens: Safeguard liquid goat wormer/and Aquasol, Valbazen liquid cattle/sheep wormer, Levamisol, and Pyrantel Pamoate.
I prefer Valbazen and Safeguard, and use Pyrantel Pamoate on occasion for my birds.
