Deworming ducks and a goose

Its summer time and hot here in sunny Florida. I have one goose, one khaki, and two pekins. I wanted to deworm as a precaution. To the best of my knowledge they don’t have worms. Lucy the goose has been shaking her head and that’s the only reason I was thinking of deworming. I have liquid Wazin. How much should I dose in the water? Thanks in advance!

Wazine is only going to kill round worms nothing else. You need Valbazen or safeguard to kill all other worms including gape worms. @casportpony can give you the details on how much and how long.

If you want to treat for all worms buy some Valbazen and give it at 0.08 ml per pound orally three days in a row.

My local tractor supply only had wazine. I’ll see what I can get my hands on. My goose who is 2 years old seems to be losing a lot of feathers. Any idea why?

Probably molting. If molting, do not use Valbazen or Safeguard until done molting because they can cause feather damage during molt.

Even in July in Florida??? It’s been hot for a while here.

My geese have always molted after breeding season it’s a timer inside of them so breeding season just finished a week or so ago and molt starts soon after.

If you want a natural dewormer than I know chamomile is one. I know this might not help much, but it could to some other people.
