Hey guys, so I have searched and searched but could not find an answer that fit exactly what my situation is.
I got 6 new silkies from a lady and they were njot in the best shape. I've had them quarantined now for a week and no one is showing signs of being sick as far as coughing or sneezing, anything running, etc. However, I found mites and lice eggs and have dusted with DE and seven dust on them all including their coop. I'm about to repeat this dusting as well as clean their coop out again and spray permethrin and dust once the rain let's up which may be tomorrow.
Anyways, these 6 babies are looking healthier each day and eating and drinking and gaining weight (they were very skinny when I got them). I got valbazen in the mail today and was wondering if
A) I should use it without physically seeing worms but the hens came from a bad situation and had mites and lice eggs.
B) I have all ages. These 6 range from one years old to about 6-7 weeks old. Should I just deworm the older ones or all or none?
C) how do you use valbazen for bantam chickens and chicks (if y'all say I need to do the chicks)? I have the valbazen for cattle, sheep and goats, 11.36% broad spectrum dewormer.

Thank you,
Any advice is appreciated. I really want to get these guys healthy before getting them anywherre near my perfectly healthy chickens.

Hi there!
Don't count on the De getting rid of any bugs.
The permethrin spray will get the job done, but make sure you spray the coop well too.

As far as worming goes..you usually won't ever see worms.
Can you collect some fresh poop from that coop..the new flock...and run it to the vet for a fecal float test. They are fairly cheap and it will let you know for sure if you have worms and which kind.

If not Valbazen can be given to all chicks/chickens.
You must weight them each and dose them separately.
The dosing amount is 0.08 ml PER POUND.
Dose cheat sheet:
1/2 lb =0.04
1 lb bird =0.08
2 lb =0.16
3 lb =0.24
4 lb =0.32
5 lb =0.4

Dose them with ONE dose and the repeat ONE dose in 10 days.
Discard all eggs for 2 weeks after final(2nd) dose.

I deworm my chickens every 4 weeks just to prevent them from getting worms ,so yes I would also I use a wormer called wazien or something like that

Thank you so much. That is exactly what I needed to know! I think ill just give it to them because I'd be worried I only got poop from one or a couple of the birds and not all of them. They all came from different areas of the ladies house, some inside her house, others in a "brooding area/closet" and one from her front yard. So I think ill just take precautionary measures and deworm them according to their weight. I sure would not want to give my OG girls something as they are all worm/bug free and healthy, each giving an egg per day!
Thank you so much for your response!

I read about that dewormer but decided to get valbazen as it treats all types of worms and not only one (I forgot which one but it is the most common). These babies came from a very nasty place so I'm assuming the worst as far as any bugs go. So far they have been successfully treated for mites and lice which they had and now are all dead but I will treat again tomorrow. So I'm going to go ahead and assume these babies have insider parasites as well. I'd hate to not assume it and then affect my entire flock once they all get integrated and ill have an even bigger problem on my hands. Thank you so much for your advice. I might get some of that dewormer down the line because it's for the most common type of worm.

Wazine only treats roundworms.
Valbazen is better.
Yes, that's the one.. round worms. That's why I chose valbazen,I researched and found that was one of the few to treat all worms.
I was completely unaware of this thank you for telling me, someone actually recommended me to use Wazine.I guess ill have to get the other one.
