DH has come over to the dark side!!!

Totally agree! The fresh eggs is how it all started. Our neighbor's hens would come over just about every day to visit our barn since they discovered the horse "piles". They let us keep any eggs that the hens laid in the barn. It was a great arrangement until they built a new pen and the chickens stopped visiting.

So that meant that I "had" to get some of our own so we could have our own eggs. I will have to try "giving" him his own chick next spring when I hatch some out.

I can totally see him doing the same thing with "favoring" his chick!

You better watch out, or your DH will do what mine did. When I asked for him to build me another coop, he told me that I would be building it. My hobby, my project. He helped with design and the stuff I couldn't do myself, but most of the work was done by me. All that is left on the outside is the door needs to be built and the ramps for the pop doors. Now I gotta start on the inside.

He wanted me to realize it's not just as easy as "honey, build me this". His plan succeeded.......It was a PITA to build.

Happy Chooks it might happen that way with me finishing up but I am pretty sure that he will at least start it. If it seems like he is dragging butt getting started, I'll just go out and buy the materials that are needed and that will get him going. That is how I got him to get started on the original coop.

He was upset that I didn't wait for him. Some days it seems like if I am going to wait for him I think you know where will freeze over first!

Anyway, we are still in the development stage but I am going to start pricing out materials so we can work on an estimate to see if it is going to be more expensive to build a coop or just buy a shed and modify it to what I need. I have no problem helping him since I love to work with power tools! I just don't have a lot of building experience and he does so I do need him for that at least

We were sitting in the run the other day and DH said he had been thinking about my suggestion of building another run just across from the one we just finished. Said he thought it was a good idea.

Yep...good thing I was sitting down. Took me 3 years to get him to even listen about having chickens. He keeps saying he is so glad I talked him into it.

I'm wanting to raise Easter Eggers or Amerecana...have 3 EE pullets...of course there are several others I would love to try my hand at.

Hoping to make a lil income to help supplement our Soc Sec ck, his pension and shrinking 401k when he retires in a few years.
