You and Ernie with most definitely be in my prayers. My step-dad had a hip replacement and did just fine with it. Just make sure that Ernie has a comfy recliner that he can come home to. I'm sure that all will be well! Keep us posted on how everything goes.

Good luck Ernie!! Surgery is never fun and very scary. At least in my opinion. I had a tumor removed from my right hand almost a year ago. They thought it was cancer... That's REALLY scary with 2 toddlers. :|

He can't cross his legs or bend his knee up to his chest or twist...etc for 6 weeks until the bone grows around the implant...
Ahhh...the Personal Torturer...LOL They're gonna get him up the next day to start walking.

Best wishes for a good surgery. Go with the replacement hip that the doc is most familar with. Cemented or cementless work either way, but half is the material, the other half is skill. They last many many years so he'll be back up in no time! As long as your DH isn't 20, getting a new hip, and planning to play aggressive teen sports, it should last a life time! engineering on this stuff has gotten a A LONG way in the past 10 years.

* Prayer sent. Oh, p.s.-- just remembered my "nephew-in-law" (who looks like a regular Venice Beach Hercules)- had BOTH knees and hips done and now runs on them 6 miles a day.
