DH needs more lessons in chicken-stuff...

Last night we were out at the pond. I found a duck egg. Picked it up. Walked to large rock, broke it open. Turned to DH and proudly announced that the egg was fertile!!

He turned a funny color and said...there was a chick in there and you just busted it open....

I thought that we had come farther in our chicken knowledge.

My MIL was grossed out this morning when she realized that the eggs she was constantly asking for where fertile. She told me that all of the chicken people she knew didn't keep the roo in with the hen. Hmm... All of the ones I know do!

My DD freaks out everytime I crack open a "Farm Fresh Egg". She starts this incessant babbling about how she knows that chicken and that was a baby inside and how can I eat that and on and on. So now I make sure I break no eggs in front of her. Geesh, driving me nuts, lol.
