Diagnose This Poop (is it ulcerative enteritis?)

2 month old quail, recently moved to outdoor aviary (on the ground), now listless, droopy wings, ruffled feathers, eyes closed, showing little interest in food, seems to feel cold at night. Moved him inside about an hour ago to keep a closer eye on him. This might just be "fear" feces and not as useful for diagnosis, so if he produces something different later, I'll add photos.

I've added penicillin to his water. If it's UE, is that good enough? If not, do you know any good mail order source of appropriate meds? I've tried getting duramycin and others and haven't found them locally, and haven't been sure the ones I've found online (for cattle, etc) are appropriate for quail. Or might this be worms, or something else? How would you recommend treating?

Thank you for your thoughts

Also, is there a way to feed him when he won't eat? Like a mush or vitamin mix through a syringe?

When my babies had UE it was more greenish. You should still try and monitor them. If it is UE, it'll wipe out the covey like there's no tomorrow. You'll usually notice the symptoms (not eating/drinking, lethargic) a day or two before the quail pass. I'd recommend putting them in pairs-trios so it's less likely for it to spread, as UE is spread through the feces. I did this and it saves 5 of my 16 quail, while it's normally a 100% fatality rate. Good luck!

Thanks. The nearby pet and feed shops apparently carry few meds for birds, but I'll drive out further if I can find a place. I'd rather not wait for the mail at this point. He looks really sick.
