diarrehea

She has been on the anti biotics since Friday and her last dose is tmw. She is drinking a lot, I guess where she is dehydrated. She is picking at her food throughout the day but she has never been a big eater like some of them are.

Now would be a really good time to weigh her and another one, then you'll be able to see how far behind she is. The table below should help if she is an egg laying breed.

Oops, I see she is a Silkie, so she won't weigh as much as those do, but she should be gaining weight daily, not losing or staying the same.

-Kathy

We have weighed her. 1.5lbs today. Here is a pic of her poo.
700

Based on the size and shape of the poop I think that maybe she has an obstruction further in. That is not what I would call diarrhea, but I would have to see more to be sure. To me it looks like lots of urates, but very little, small shaped solids and I think I also saw some undigested grain?

@bertiesmum , can you weigh another one her age?

-Kathy

We haven't got any other silkies her age. The ione we have has always been a lot bigger than her. And is older. I will weigh her again weds. Her poo was just pure liquid. This has firmed up a bit.

I'm my silkie book she is about the right weight for a silkie bantam. I will weigh her again on weds though to see if she has increased her weight. By the feel of her she has lost weight. She is quite tame so let's is handle her so you can gauge her weight. Fingers crossed things will start looking up.

Elsie died today. She was really perking up and then she passed away today. She kept leaking a clear fluid out of her vent. I'm very upset. Any ideas what the leakage could have been?

Sorry for your loss... If you really want to know you could send her off for a necropsy or do one yourself. Many States offer a free or low cost service.
