diarrhea help

ETA - the wormer was valbazen, 1/2 cc given orally. Once on 12/24 and once on 1/3, I believe.

After the first dose, my other RIR ended up with diarrhea too, possibly a blocked crop or a problem with slow digestion. After about 3 days of TLC she was back to normal. This one (also a RIR) has looser diarrhea and although she feels better and is eating and drinking better than the first bird did, it's been sticking around for longer than I had hoped. Can't help but wonder if there was some connection to using that wormer. Anything like that ever happen to you, Dawg?

Valbazen is a very safe wormer for poultry. I've used it alot without any problems whatsoever, as have many others.

Hi everyone,

Still dealing with this problem. Her stools are very loose. They do have digested food in them, but come out sounding liquidy. There's somewhat less water in them than when I posted this a week ago, however they are not formed at all. I've tried just giving her food, tried buttermilk, took her off the electrolytes and stuff, and she is still much the same. Tail is up and she is eating and drinking her normal amount or more (it is very cold here). She is molting. Anything else I should try?

Is her crop flat in the morning? Can you post another picture.

I haven't checked the crop in a couple of days, but it had been going down as expected in the morning when she first started with this issue. I'll get another pic next time I go outside in a couple of hours.

I would make sure her crop is flat in the morning before eating and drinking, rule out that problem. Make sure shes getting grit as well. Try her on just her normal foods. Has she been laying fine?

Ok thanks. She has access to grit and her regular food. She hasn't layed for months that I am aware of. She seems very happy though, despite the pooping issue!
