Diarrhea in muscovy male

If he seems to be acting OK, and you're seeing improvements, you could just try leaving him be, and see if he continues to improve. If you think the penis is still inflamed, you could try lubing your finger (wearing gloves) with some Preparation H, or DMSO gel, and insert it into his vent, not going too far down. That may help with any swelling.

Otherwise, you could try taking him to a vet.
Thanks for the fast response. Is there any downside to doing the preparation H if it ends up being not swollen, other than my drake possibly hating me for a while?

Thanks. He handled that better than I thought he would. How often is ok to treat him with preparation H? I was thinking once a day until the problem resolves.

I would say more every couple of days, and hopefully, any inflamed tissue will shrink back down to size.

So my male has never fully recovered. However, I have another issue with him mainly picking on our female pekin. So we have finally decided that we should cull him for the good of our flock. I was wondering if with his issues, if we should just dispose of the body or if he would still be fine to eat. He still has some very minor diarrhea issues, so I am guessing it is probably safer to err on the side of caution. I was hoping to get your thoughts on the matter.

Diarrhea is hard to distinguish in ducks since they drink so much water. Unless he's been critically Ill, I would still likely eat the body, but that is up to you.

Thanks. I haven't had to cull a bird yet, and get to start with something large and strong. Any suggestions on a bird that big and powerful. If not, I can start another thread. Thanks for all your help so far.

For drakes, I put two nails in a log at a V. Gently, rest the bird's neck in the V, and chop the neck with a sharp ax.
