Candled and marked aircells 26 eggs in lockdown. Tomorrow is actually day 18 but well it is dark and some funny aircells so deciding to stop turning a day early in the hopes that chicks will move to hatch position before they can't move at all.

Quote: I think it looks perfect! my ducks don't do anything but sit on the deck to the little pond anyways!
Quote: how did you do that cross out thing?
Quote: My ducks are not lovable, neat to watch but not people ducks lol. See now I think I could kill a duck and I don't even like duck meat! that is messed up!

Hey everyone. I'm so far behind here I'm not going to try and catch up. Had a bit of a crisis yesterday. We had the 4 young chickens outside in their coop and the wind was so crazy yesterday morning, it blew the coop down. The whole thing collapsed with them inside

One got hurt, but seems to be o.k. now (touch wood), one got killed, the other two were freaked out but unharmed. I'm still upset and in shock, so sorry if I'm not feeling talkative today, I'm still in a bit of a mess. I feel awful about the one that died. We didn't even go clean the mess up yet. I can't look at it without seeing that poor thing

At least it seems it was instant, she didn't suffer...

Sorry!!

The wind won't blow mine over, but I worry about one of these ugly big oaks falling or dropping a huge limb on them. So far been lucky. There just being missed.

I cant believe in that short a time you started a new thread and have that many posts on it! LOL I would have been reading on this thread for days! Chatty bunch aren't ya!

so i went further down and he was at the wrong end of the egg, i made sure he has air and left him to finish absorbing everything.
Awwwww What kinda bator is that? its Purdy for sure! how many eggs fit in it? maybe that's what I need to downsize too aint? So glad you sat on your hands!! another A+
Thanks a lot for all your comments. They are on day 15. This is one of my home eggs mixed between a batam cochin Roo and a Nero Type cross out of four hen possibility I do not know which laid this. But there does seem to be a lot of space in some. I think they just will be smaller chicks just in big eggs. I have had them at a constant temp of 37.7 c since I put them in my new bator with fan on day 10. But before that time it was probably a little unstable because the thermostats was broke and just a mess really. I could not take my eye off the blasted thing without it going over 40 degrees then some nights it would be around 36-37. So this is where I need some expertise. My little bantam eggs are on the small side and look pretty full I have 4 eggs from posted variety that have very huge air cells of the saddle back variety and these have a small space left at the bottom. Then I have some that look spot on and some that look a little on the small side for dates inside like these pics I added so would it hurt to put the bigger eggs into lock down first and and give the other eggs a chance to get bigger? Or do I just put them all in at the same time. Knowing that it may take a long time for them to hatch. I just don't want to compromise anything. And I will not touch the eggs unless they most defo need help! I am worried about these saddle backs. What complications should I expect. These eggs had detached cells and I managed to get them to reattach by reading all these posts. Pure luck. But I will post pics when night falls. I have three cochin banties in small shells my hen is very small and is just over a year old and her eggs have never got much bigger but what should I expect with 'not a lot of room' day 16 today and they do not have much space left.
Thanks
you can wait on the others if your available to candle a few times that day and if you see internal pips you should put them in with the others. but lift and candle don't roll the eggs around while candling as they could be getting into position in the eggs. A lot of times the air cells do vary by age of eggs, remember its better to have a tad larger air cells than a tad smaller. HOWEVER if they are bantam eggs I would lock them down since they may hatch earlier than day 21. I hope that made sense to you! I am slow this morning!

oh sumi I am sorry to hear this, boy you have your share of the thick stuff lately, I am so sorry : (

Quote: oh don't say that! during hurricane sandy another gal on the PA thread had one destroy her new coop! she just built it and set it up and tried to finish before nasty weather and BAM! right down the middle of it! Thank goodness there was not a bird in it yet! All that work and then that happens. Good thing is her insurance co covered the damage! They are lucky it didn't hit the house too!

Its the R-com mini only takes three eggs but i have used it so many times for my small flock, so far it has a hundred percent hatch rate all you do is fill the water every few days :) im considering getting the R-com 20 PRO but its super crazy expensive :/
