I cant believe in that short a time you started a new thread and have that many posts on it! LOL I would have been reading on this thread for days! Chatty bunch aren't ya! :lau

Awwwww  What kinda bator is that? its Purdy for sure! how many eggs fit in it? maybe that's what I need to downsize too aint? So glad you sat on your hands!! another A+
you can wait on the others if your available to candle a few times that day and if you see internal pips you should put them in with the others. but lift and candle don't roll the eggs around while candling as they could be getting into position in the eggs. A lot of times the air cells do vary by age of eggs, remember its better to have a tad larger air cells than a tad smaller.  HOWEVER if they are bantam eggs I would lock them down since they may hatch earlier than day 21.  I hope that made sense to you! I am slow this morning!
oh sumi I am sorry to hear this, boy you  have your share of the thick stuff lately, I am so sorry : (

And I am sorry to hear this also. So sad.

so basically I have bantam eggs that most probably will hatch sooner rather than later as they are filling up quick. I will put them in straight away. The others I think I will wait and extra day. As they are mixed bantam. That pic was yesterday day 15. Does the space in the shell look normal to you? Does it look like it should be ready for lockdown on wed afternoon? The only thing is the eggs with the ' more space in them ' will be in a turner still. But I was thinking of just candiling frequent and putting the maybe 2 days after they should be in there. I blame the temps being erratic the first 10 days.
If all goes to plan this will be my first ever hatch !! 22 eggs to go in if they are all viable as of yesterday they were!

Well the little one that we struggled with passed away yesterday evening. My wife cried. We thought we had it out of the woods. The sack was down to nothing. It was fluffing up. I couldnt get it to eat or drink but I figured I had a little more time. I had it with the 4 ducks because the other chicks were pecking at it. I got up this morning and saw another one had passed. We are at 13. My lucky number. I filled the water up with a electrolyte/probiotic mixture before I left for work. I went and bought two digital thermometer/humidity units last night. They are at 100 in the forced air and at 102 in the still air. The humidity is at 40% in the one that is a week away(still air) and at 67% in the one that should hatch thursday(forced). I will turn again this afternoon when I get home and them leave wait "patiently" I have hatches Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

On another note. Dad gave me 5 turkey eggs last night. I have 11 goose eggs and 3 duck eggs also. I am thinking about putting them all in together unless someone has a reason I shouldnt.

I had to unsubscribe from this thread. It was blowing up my email box. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep up with my questions mainly and to see what others say at my leisure without having to search through everything if Im not getting the email notifications anymore?

I thought this original post was an amazing post and would help many hatchers, as well as shippers.
I am surprised that it only has 3 thumbs up to be honest.
It is very well written and will be quite useful and save a lot of bitter issues with shipped eggs, this is why I thought it had thumbs up?

I think it should be stickied somewhere for sure, How do we get something stickied?

Wonder if there a list of criteria for a sticky?

Quote: So how do you give something a thumbs up?
oh I cant dig for thumbs ups but I can tell you how..... you see the ovation system here is different than say Facebook..... I will post info in a moment have to find it....

This way we all understand it and wont get into trouble with flockwatcher any more : ( we don't like to start trouble, we like to help others and would really be terrible if the thread was shut down and we cant help all those people so its a good thing everyone understand it. brb

Announcing BYC Ovations!

Our GFM & PPM members got together to give this "reputation" system a name and together came up with "Ovation" (ova from the Latin word ovum meaning egg). We're very excited to have our members use this new feature to encourage and recognize great posts and contributions from their fellow members.

Ovation Overview
  • Ovation is a feature within the forum that allows members to acknowledge other members for leaving posts that are beneficial to the forum and its membership as a whole.
  • Ovations also help to “bubble up” the most helpful information on the forum and make it easier for people to discover.
  • You can leave Ovation points by clicking on the “thumbs up” icon, which appears at the bottom of each member’s post.
  • You have the option of leaving a comment along with your rating. This is highly encouraged.
  • All members start off with 10 Ovation points which will be increased by 1 with every Ovation you receive from other members.
  • Only YOU can see your Ovation level and only YOU can see your Ovation Profile / list of ovations received. This may change in the future if we see that the system is working well, but for now we're starting off slow and steady.
    big_smile.png

You can access your Ovation Level and a list of your ovations by going to your profile and clicking on the "Ovation" link:

Once you click on your "Ovation" link you'll be taken to a page that will show all your ovations given and received:

When should Ovation Points be given?
Ovations should be given to members who make posts that are beneficial to the forum and its membership. When you give points, keep in mind that members with a high ovation level will be perceived as "top members" in the forum. Give points wisely!

When should it NOT be given?
Ovations SHOULD NOT be given for matters of personal gain. This includes giving points to friends just to boost their level, for non-helpful purposes, or anything else that does not benefit the membership as a whole.
NOTE: If we find that a member is abusing this system for their gain or to falsely boost another member’s ovation level we may remove their ovation points.

Ovation Etiquette
  • Do not beg for points
  • Do not create multiple accounts to give points to yourself. You will be caught and all your points removed.
  • Do not give points to a post of a member just because you like them. The POST itself should be worthy of the ovation points.
