BlackBetty had only one chick with her at lockup, she turned and the other was dead stuck in her feathers crushed. 

I took the other chick from her put in the brooder with the others she almost murdered and threw her back in the dungeon with the roo and the other broody. May the best CHICKEN WIN! I am so MAD, not even upset, just MAD and of course Harmony had to come in when I was pulling the darn thing out of her backside! RIP little mother natures chick   I DO NOT LIKE BROODIES! and after the other cochin hatches her marans I am taking them, ALL OF THEM!

Oh, but Sally... Some broodie's are awesome!! Like my Primmy... She raised her babies and is still mothering the Spitzhauben crosses she adopted after her boys were all grown... She's laying an egg every day and still teaching the Spitzhauben chicks how to free range... She's the best of both worlds!!

28 of 36 swedish flower hens are developing
8 of 10 basques
4 of 9 brittish orps ( air cells are totally sloshy - and they were the best packed eggs I got)
12 of 15 polish
5 of 6 mottled houdans

not bad so far.............

Just set 1 doz andalusian eggs 2 EEs & 2 game bird eggs some guy handed me from his show hens. Looks like bator is whirring again!! Cuz I don't have enough birdies right?!!!!

That's the problem with broodies. When they're good they're good, but when they're bad they are terrible. I've over the years got so mad at some of mine I could've kicked them and came darn close to, on more than one occasion... If you get a broody that's a good mom, make the most of her.
