..... MY PRECIOUS!!! ... lol ..I feel like that character in lord of the rings!!

but these are the beautiful hatching eggs from LaceyBlues!
packaged beautifully and labeled from different families of her breeding pens so I would be able to band them when they hatch for future crossings ....

my plan is slowly coming together!
now just gotta start on those additional coops. Hey anyone know where to get legbands. I'll need several sizes & colors I think because I plan to label all the hatchery babies with 1 color and then add a color for male/female. then label each chick from breeder hatches with another color. want to keep them seperate.

I wish so too. It was great. Our local butcher was awesome. We went there often and one day I needed to put Heide (that's his name) down for a minute to get money from my bag. I asked if it's o.k. if I put him on the counter. The butcher ducked under the counter and reappeared with a bag of chick seed mix that his wife keeps there to feed the wild birds and sprinkled some on the counter for Heide to eat while we pay for our stuff.

Yeah, Heide is special to us, very special. I would've brought him with if I could, but with the bird flu situation in the region we lived in there was no way they'd even consider it.

I don't know, but they are GORGEOUS.

Thanks sumi! I think so too haha
I can't seem to find anything that looks like they do. Partridge blue AND buff? I have no clue. And ALL of them are pretty much the same except one white one. I am surprised since I have a black, white and buff hens.

I'm so sorry Sumi.

Did your friend get him back for you?

I phoned him back the next day and told him to get him back. And he'd better do it. We need to go back to SA, not sure when exactly, but it will be soon. MIL's not doing well, there's problems on our farm (where she insisted on staying, by herself) and DH and I after long discussions on the topic decided we'd better go see what's going on there. I don't know how long we'll be there, but we're coming back to Ireland once we got that story sorted. HOPEFULLY it won't take too long.
For awhile now we were getting very conflicting stories about what's going on on the farm. This friend of ours who looked after Heide said everything's fine. A friend of MIL's went down to see her and said she's not doing well and neither is the farm. MIL last time we spoke to her said she's dying. She's a terrible hypochondriac, so heaven knows. We'll see when we get there. With DH hurting himself added to the list we started talking seriously about returning for awhile. At least there he can get free medical treatment. So though it's not what we want it sounds like the best thing to do at the moment.
