Are these from your own eggs? You are better off listing as a LOT. not individually. And take gorgeous photos, take some out in the fresh green grass if you can. I look at it this way, if I place the ad and they don't sell in a week, I will sell them cheap as a lot.... say I normally wanted 5 bucks a silkie, I would place the ad 5 for 20 or 10 for 30. I don't try to make money off of shipped eggs as it doesn't pay at all. But if you sell your own chicks for a buck a pcs its still profit, as eatings eggs are less than 3 bucks a dozen right? I have found that the people that come for my bulk chicks are my most favorite. Sometimes I get high and mighty people that have no clue about chicks and I love talking chicken but when I have 5 kids running around I don't have 5 hrs to explain how to make a brooder! why come for chicks not prepared!!!

I am so sorry about the hatches Doug! and OMG 123??? don't they sell those humidly little thingers for bigger bators? oz should know. that was such an educated sentence!! lol

LOL Sally, it's the burn cream I made for my leg yesterday..the dressing was starting to rub and hurt so I had to make something I could use at work today without the dressing.
Steam clearing a hen was my own made up term but in fact that's what it is. When you take a pot of boiling water and pour it in a bucket then hold the hens butt over it so the steam from the water "hopefully" relaxes the muscles so the Hen can pass the egg. This is usually the first step when/if you think your hen is egg bound. the next step is gloving up to try and remove it but can be difficult and dangerous for the hen if the egg is broken while still inside her.

or you can go to youtube and type in "Egg bound Chicken" in the search for videos.

Note of Caution: PLACE BOWL/BUCKET of water on a STABLE surface !! before attempting this...like the floor...I know you'd think this was a given but I figured I had good hold of her and the bucket wasn't that full ....well ended up with a nice 1st degree burn down my whole leg! Painful!
I will say though that the hen is not egg bound....must've scared it out of her when I dropped her screaming my head off.

How's your leg today?

Hey Sally, Everybody really loves the fermented food!!!! 2 Problems though. The 1 gallon pitches are not going to be enough. I will have to get 5 gallon buckets. Have 1 but will need another for the chicks and the ones in the growing pen. Which leaves me to another sort of problem. The chicks in the brooder. I will have around 50 in there until I start selling the ones I'm hatching today. How in the world do you do that. I guess I could take the top off the hanging feeders and put the feed in the bowl part. But they walk all over it. Which I really hate. Maybe that's just me!!

Because from what I see other let them walk and sleep and sit all in the feed.

I got one of those long chick feeders, they are cheap and work great.

If you let them walk in it they will get hard balls on their feet! esp if they have feathered feet! and just a mess.

What you can do for the chick starter FF is make it let it sit for the few days and then mix more starter just on the top portion to make it even more dry.
I do this for my all my chicks.

sounds like a plan. All the chicks in there right now have no feathered feet.

Also I think I may have to help one out of the shell. Going to wait a bit but the lining looks yellow, which seems to indicate dried and shrink wrapping.

. 3 out and 11 pips! Some are more like small zips. I know it's ok for the chicks to bumble around and knock the eggs but what if they tumble the egg and the pip gets turned face down? The chick in this picture just popped out of its shell I never even saw a zip. Henrietta's baby has yet to make an appearance and its the one I'm most excited about. Should be a buff Orpington, as long as it was HER egg in her favorite nest. Oh gosh I hope so!

Quote: No outright saying NO, but the lady that came last night......

here is this weeks story...

Sunday I had a lady message me wanting a few silkies, I said its first come first serve (learned my lesson on holding even for a week!)
I asked her to call or text before she came Tues in case they are already sold. she said ok. Her son wants silkies to enter eggs in the local fair 4H.

In the mean time a lady that bought a ton of silkies and cochin last month called and asked what I have as she wants more of the partridge bluish silkies and whites or splash if available.
I told her I have 10 at various stages from a 4 weeks to last weeks hatch. I told her she could have all of them for 30 bucks, and I am giving her a pair of serama JUST BECAUSE
she loves chickens and I can tell.... last time she bought all the cochin and silkies I had, but there was one older roo that everyone kept saying no I cant have him he is a roo for sure. Well she felt so bad for this guy she said, I want to buy him too. Well in the end I gave him to her of course along with another splash hen! Like I said I made money on them, since they were my own eggs, not much but I made the woman so happy and now she is coming for all these others! She drives 2.5 hrs one way to come here, and I told her if she wants them all she can even sell them and make a buck or two, good for her!

Kindness always pays you back, and if it don't the Good Lord sets all that straight on his own! Not that I am very religious but I do know what feels right and wrong, and I swear to myself no matter what I need to live by that!

Anyways, the lady text me and I told her the silkies are all sold, all I have is a few splash cochin and one blue cochin chick. She says ok I need to check with the son (7 year old lol) Well ends up my cell is wringing off the table, and here she is parked outside in her fancy car! Calling me and I see diamond bracelets dangling in the window.... I was like ok I know this will be fun. (usually this isn't what I see holding stinky chickens ya know) so I go down and say hello and show her the chicks and she gruntled her nose and told her son to hold it, well he took the exact same look and back away! So I showed her the silky pen and they loved them, and showed her the cochin pen. I basically talked them out of cochin and told her she should find a reputable breeder and find a great quality chicken that will do well in egg shows. I couldn't help her out because I know nothing of it. but I WAS glad to see them leave empty handed, but I think the chickens are still stunned by the smell of perfume and hairspray! Bawahhhhaaaaaaaaaa (not that I don't wear it Occasionally and in less quantity)

How's your leg today?
it's fine...healing well. it was only a first degree so basically like a really bad sunburn..no blistering so the cream I made is working nicely. Plus it gave me an opportunity to mix my herbal stuff and do some research for nesting box herbs to help keep the bugs down. I'm going to bring some of the blend with me to the meet up to see if anyone wants to try some in their nest boxes for their ladies...maybe I can add it to my "sale" list...LOL plus I've been doing some research on herbal additives in general for increasing organic chicken keeping ideas
