Ok... Tell a newb. What are the pennies for?
Sparky already told you, YAY this is from the hatching 101 article https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101

NOTES: It’s a good idea to keep the incubator plugged into a surge protector. Use distilled water in your incubator to help prevent bacteria growth. Omphalitis, Mushy Chick Disease and Yolk Sack Infection may be caused by a bacterium that enters through the porous egg shell. Unfortunately, incubation conditions are ideal for breeding bacteria as well as incubating eggs. Brinsea sells a disinfectant, formulated to be used for cleaning eggs, incubators, safe and effective against yeasts, fungi, viruses and bacteria which can cause fatal damage to the growing embryo. Pennies can be added to water wells. Copper helps to destroy the cell walls of bacteria, thus keeping bacteria out of the incubator. Pennies before 1982 have more copper content and pure copper kills 99.9% of bacteria.

Okay Sally, It's been 12 hours since I discovered the pip. No progress. It's upside down, chirping lightly and moving around. The membrane is as bright white as Humptys. Advice? Wait? Is white good? Why is it everytime I do this, I forget what I did last time?

do you have a pic? Its malpositioned and pipped at the bottom (wrong end?)
if so you can chip just a tiny little specks at the hole, IF you see red wet blood STOP and let it alone! put back in the bator not ready

Thanks, and can I reprimand myself for not going back to the article first?? I just did, and imagine that!!! The answers we're still there! I'm still unclear about the bright white (very slight browning at the edges) A Google search has turned up that it's Good & Bad, hmmm... Gonna go take a little peak. BRB!

this isn't right back! LOL

Hey Sally, do you put pennies in your water wells?

Oh, and I found 2 goose eggs today!

The first one didn't develop, but I think it may have froze before I collected it.
Nope, I don't use the wells, I use a small dish and put a wet sponge in it at lockdown, and add sponges as needed of dif sizes.
And in the coolerbators, I alternate wells, when the water is just about dried up from one well I use another. Havent had issues since!

AWESOME on the eggs!!! I cant wait for you to hatch them!

I went to candle. I have internal pips and one external and those little boogers are active in the shell. I only looked at 4. Woohoo. The hatch has began. We will have goslings.
