Quote: I don't think they could be black, and no she wasn't laying, Roo beaufiful blue though,I say they will be blues! Wonder why I didn't get any like that, do they look like this pic in color? I wonder if my others were splash! DOLP! the color they are look like my blue silkies at hatch though
They are pretty dark, but a tad lighter than the pic is showing. I definitely see the blue, just dark blue. The splash's look darker in the pic too, they are bright creamy white. I keep catching DH staring at them, they really are the cutest chicks I've had so far. The pic does them no justice.

shhhhhhh Sarah was coming for ducks but I think she changed her mind, UNTIL SHE SEES THEM! Muwahahhaaaaaa
On the contrary, biach...despite everyone's ill speak of ducks this week, I remain brave! I actually kinda feel like they hatched early just for me :') I was supposed to go down next week, folks...but have to go tomorrow instead, so I figured I missed them, but was gonna go see Sally anyway. I am speechless that they are here!

I have in excess of 35 scovie ducks now (I started with a trio a few short months ago). Mine are strictly free range but I have had to gate our patios as a preventative measure from my teenage experiences.

We will be eating a lot of duck this year.

12 eggs are in lockdown. I am hopeful for a good hatch. I feel good about three or four EE. Can't see into the Marans well enough. Here's to a great first hatch!!

Today I've got a craigslist story to share with you. Sally's duckings reminded me of it.

Because the ducks are crazy messy, I decided to sell nearly all of mine, including my crested drake little Moe. I had a very knowledgeable guy come pick up my last trio (little Moe and 2 girls) for $25. He described the home he had to offer and explained his purposes for them and I felt that they were going to a great home. This just happened Thursday night.

Today I went to an animal swap. I was able to sell some of my extra chicks, and I found Aflac a girlfriend. Just as I was about to pack up and leave, I heard a drake go nuts. A very loud panicky whisper. I went over to see what was going on and it was him with little Moe! He was selling little Moe for $20! That made me so mad... The guy buying him changed his mind, and even though I shouldn't have, I felt bad for my little Moe so I bought him back. What a waste...

Oh well, Moe was sure happy to be back and I do love the little guy.

The ducks are hatching the ducks are hatching.....  zipping all over the place! 3 out in less than an hour! Malposition assist still doing great and active but still bottom in shell! almost absorbed all! YAY!

the poop is coming the poop is coming!!!

Amen to that. I'm not raising any more ducks in a bator. Gonna let the mommas do it. At least that's what I'm telling myself right now
