I'll put this out here: Chick hatched 1 day early but legs are out in front-side and she's sitting on her bum, can't seem to get up on her legs...what to do?

I had this happen with one of my chicks before. I was getting worried and I tried a bunch of stuff, but nothing really helped. Three days later, I woke up and he was walking normally. Not sure if this helps, but give him time. The problem may fix itself.

This chick hatched today and can't get off her bum, she is in a sitting position. Can't find info regarding this problem, all help appreciated. She hatched 1 day early if that's any help.

and got the appointment to change from winter to summer tires ..oddly enough temp there is 0 celsius but sunny
and day 20 on 22 eggs/12 with saddle air cells

sharron commented that an egg would be dangerous in a bra and asked kaybee if she was located in crestview

doug assisted 3 more chick - 1 did not make it one id splayed leg and the last is fine
3 new turkey this morning he worked hard for those and has one chick still trying to hatch
he will have 3 empty bators and may wait on a supply of peacock eggs
also has 2 BO hens sitting on 14/15 eggs each
posy 15643 is hatching pic and he bets those babies get big quick !!

sumi said congrats on doug's hatch and is thinking about peacock eggs

Oz has 12 peacock eggs coming in a gold bag (lol) next week abnd is hoping the hot weather won't fry them before delivery
mrs oz was above the ocean on her way back to the philippines and they had a great time together
he heads back that way in a little over a week for a special lady's big 3rd Bday !!

Ms Steak said she chose her name bc it suits her as she has made so many mistakes - haven't we all ?!? i do like it !! and says now she needs a chick to hatch !!

Sally replied on post 15681 and also asked if rbaker has wormed lately and/or checked for parasites like lice/mites

Tweetynpetey gave wobbles some fleece scraps to sleep in and that seemed to settle the cutie pie down - finally !!

As far as saddle shaped eggs, sally says if it dips on both sides or the air cell is loose and jello like keep upright in an egg carton for hatch - other wise lay them flat

aww sally had to cull the poor brahma
2 cortunix nothing yet and has all of chad's going into lockdown
and advised dcba that as long as she has one of the car plugs leave the bator there as long as she can

Sumi and Oz shared a list of possible problems for doug-
Full term embryo, not pipped could be:
- Inadequate turning
- Humidity too high during incubation
- Incubator temperature too low
- Hatcher temperature too high
- Eggs got too cold at some stage
- Nutritional deficiencies (inadequate nutrients in hen's diet)
- Hereditary
- Embryological development accident
- Breeder disease (i.e. egg from sick hen)
- Inadequate ventilation
- Eggs were stored too long pre-incubation

Sally assured TnJ that the eggs will be just fine!!
and TnJ suggested tony just start over with the waterer
and has a chick that hatched that has legs out in front-side and sitting on her bum .. cannot seem to get up ... any advice on what to do ?

Doug answered the list and aaaask if anyone could see a problem with any of his answers ,, it has been frustrating !!!

Do you keep spreadsheets of your hatches?
Can you isolate any particular incubator?
Have you calibrated thermometers and hygrometers?

And sally said that doug reminds her of one of her kids lol except instead of mom mom he says sally ??? lol

And sumi is right we will all be celebrating when the adoption is done for oz and mrs oz and they can bring the babies home!!

Sumi is having modem issues and hopefully tommorow they will be better

Sally and TNJ are still researching on how to help that little chick with sitting bum syndrome

chicksooner had a similar but sadly lost it

sumi listed nutrional defiencies that may cause problems in chicks that are hatching as well -- post 15695

Sally asked to see images of doug's eggtopsies next time and thinks it maybe a combo of issues
Sally cleaned the brooders yet again and dug a trench from the house down to the pool for a new electric line as it was not done properly before
Chad is taking all her extras to auction for her ..and she had one cross that talked her out of leaving lol

UGGGGG LOCKdown of the last two of the T Polish for Sara, and these two have THE NASTYEST WATERY looking air cells I HAVE EVER HAD ALIVE DAY 18! They remain upright in a carton added to the styro with the 2 cotournix eggs. The other polish was nasty at candle so I chucked it. Another nice thing about seeing in white eggs eeeewwwww

oh Thank goodness! I still have pages open searching! I found this page using a kids hair band but again was more for spraddle leg.
did you give electolites? If you have time to work with her and just hold her correctly I would do so. even if you have one of those rice bags you can heat in the microwave then you can keep her with you and warmer longer too! I had one before my kid left it lay and the dog ate it! well most of it!! lol
