I think I need egg hatching intervention people!!! I just purchased more eggs . . . Some OEs and BCMs. I already have a medium and light egg. Should hatch some blue egg layers this weekend and have a green egger still maturing.

I'm really going to only be able to have 7 hens in my small fenced backyard but I am
trying to get a rainbow egg basket of them.

. I hope to have eggs for myself and be able sell a couple of dz a week to pay for feed and upkeep.

No intervention needed, you NEED that easter basket so do what you need to right?????? Nothing wrong with that! As long as you can sell your extras your in the good! No hypnosis needed! LOL

I give the extra chickens to my mom and sisters! ;D. I guess I should think about selling some . . .

Ok so I'm on day 5 and have been dying to candle the eggs. I decided to take a peek tonight but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to see (exactly why I should've waited I know lol) so I thought I'd ask the pros. This is my first ever hatch so I'm going by what I've read :)

Lol kaybee I'm trying to get blue & green layers too. I want them because my in laws say brown eggs are healthy everything else is not as healthy. They also believe I hide my rooster since hens can't lay eggs without one. I want to freak them out with blue & green eggs :- D

At this point you might see a small dot with spider veins coming off it but you might also see nothing depending on where the embryo is in the egg. ;)

Wait til ILs taste a great free range egg of any color!!! They'll notice a difference! I gave my neighbors some eggs and they loved them. :)

I think I see spider veins in #6 but not really sure. Your best bet is to wait a few more days and then you will really see what is happening in there.

Sally the tester did not really look around. I showed him all my birds and their pens so he would know which needed testing and which didn't. I had a bunch that were too young to test. I think the age limit was 4 months and older get tested. I have all my feeds in metal trash cans. I did clean out some poop before he got here but that was about it. It was really a very simple process. The hardest part for me was catching the birds. Exhausting.
