We got our kitchen painted and will re-paint our cabinets tomorrow since the guy at lowes mixed us up purple paint instead of the burgundy paint strip we gave him! we don't want to change it to purple, we like the burgundy, they just need refreshed! I hope they take the paint back! Not our mistake!

I'm sad! 4 polish and 2 silkies made it out of 17!

I just feel like I didn't do something right for those poor babies that didn't make it!!

they were not shrink wrapped? no internal pips? did you search the hatching 101 for the links to "what went wrong?" awwwwwwww ventilation??? too big couldn't pip?

I don't believe they were sw... question on that...the air cell..the membrane that doesn't contain the vessels..do those stay moist too? or generally get kinda dry and the chicks pip thru it? ..nope on the internals..I did look at the 101 (many times since starting incubating btw!! thank you SO MUCH for it!) I think I have enough ventilation..it's the 2 holes unplugged and I realized there's actually other holes in the top of the bator..not sure what those are for..I don't think they were too big..hard for me to tell...these guys were ALL tiny to me! :(

Question. I had a pip last night late. Today we were gone and 2 others hatched and pecked away the loose she'll from the pip. I now have a dime size hole in this egg. I can see beak but the membrane is drying.. will it be able to hatch like this? It is now 24+ hour since external pip, no clue how long the hole has been there. At least 4 hours.
you can investigate, take cap off ONLY ABOVE AIR CELL and gently put some bacitrin antibiotic clear ointment on it, NO PAIN RELIEF stuff. and then let it in the bator until it gets out itself, unless the innermembrane looks brownish and no viens then it needs your help getting out of the shell.

Quote: there beaks were in position though? could you see them when you took the "tops" off? did they seem big and wet to you?

The membrane that runs just under the shell? in the air cell area right at the shell it can get brown and dry yes, its the inner one that matters? was that membrane sucked tight against the chicks?

:love   But I am a hog for sure then! : ( LOVE these pics!!  and you can hog the pages with that cuteness anyday of the week and several times a hour! LOL

awesome!!!! YAY!!!!
awwwww I am so sorry! I feel the same way! If I EVER let a hen have chicks again would be a miracle, heck I don't even think I would let them set on them! uggggg and the one chick I saved from her nest frozen is just a crooked neck mess of a hen! poor thing! But I saved her so I will keep her! The other one went to a great gal I met through selling chicks!
awesome!!!   do you need a license or permit for that sorta stuff, chad said he don't know.  He has a ton of misc stuff he should check into it.
hmmmm is right!

I don't believe you need a permit unless you are selling them for food! I am not keeping these just raising them for the original owner! He wants me to set more pulse peacock eggs but I have a brinsea advanced mini so I can't! Feel bad but not much I can do!

AWESOMENESS!!!  your ADDICTED!!! YAY!!!  and what are hyb blue egg layers?

I'm getting the eggs from DMRippy on here and this is her explanation to me. The pics of her eggs show the size of a leghorn egg with a blue-blue green color. :)

Now... The SBEL are covered by my Lavender Ams Roo... he is also covering my Lavenders and my Lavender Splits.  My Lav AM eggs will hatch Lavs and Splits (I can't hatch just Lavs and it is not a good idea to not use blacks in lavs) .  DISCLAIMER  My lavs are carrying Rec White so you will also get some whites.  They pop up as much as the Lavs and Splits.

The NEW SBEL, I am hatching some now so I know they will hatch.  My CCL roo is covering a WL and a WLxExL cross pullet.  I don't really know what they will look like.  A good chunk will look white but should also be barred but you will also get some colors, just can't tell you what they will look like.
