Quote: Me too. All the symptoms are pointing to cocci, but I've been read that sometimes the only way to confirm that is indeed cocci is by performing a necropsy on the bird. If it's not cocci I'd love to know what it is.

5 out of 20 shipped eggs hatch, candled the remaining last night and no movement no peeps NOTHING.

I have had non stop crap filled day yesterday! first a dog got one of my white face hens, then a little boy stubbed his toe in his stupid crocks! he had them on and was running and actually split the tip of his toe from the dam things! needed 2 stitches! no more crocks! it had to thump and hurt like heck, the poor kiddo! and then I got so tired of smelling this chicken sh#$ from all this rain I started digging 6 inches off the top of my huge run, I worked 3 hours digging and hauling to the compost pile and it still reeks! I am getting ag lime today for sure! HAD ENOUGH! it needs to dry up, we need a little wind and sun that's all!!! but omg it stinks! So I popped on to say Good morning and pray this is a good day for everyone! HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will try to read through posts quick before I head out!

Just a FYI for those who are unsure about which to use, Corid or Sulmet:

Sulmet only treats 2 of the 9 types of cocci that chickens can get. Corid treats all 9 types. Also Sulmet is very hard on the bird's system. It contains sulfamethazine. Sulfadimethoxine is much safer and kills coccidia that Amprolium won't.
I keep both in powder form in ball jars with label attached with a rubber band. I am fairly sure I have a complete med cabinet for my flock, I should take a pic and note what I have so everyone can go over it and add whatever else I am missing, like those sticky things oz and hill said if I have another cracked egg so late in the game. Thanks Sumi!

Speaking of purple eggs, how very appropriate that I join this thread now :) Thank you for the invite SallySunshine. I have read through hundreds of pages here, but admittedly not all of them. Hello everyone!!

Before I go further I'll say that for the last week I have been having issues uploading pictures or I would put them up. I know others on my local forum are having the same issue.

So, I just received some very special eggs in the mail (15 eggs). They are in fact Croad Langshans. I already have a breeding trio and have hatched their chicks out successfully. They are such stunning birds I fell in love and I wanted another line to add to my flock. I found a breeder of Croads from the Beauford line. These are tall, huge, and beautiful and they still lay eggs with the plum bloom. Most Langshan's don't lay the plum bloom anymore, including mine. Anyway, the eggs range from light with rose bloom to darker eggs with a very purplish look to them. They are Beautiful. They arrived well packed in breathable foam with holes cut in the bottom pad and a foam top. I liked how this kept them upright and breathing. No bubble wrap and tape necessary. The chicks should be both black and blue large fowl Langshans.

I'll be candling them tonight to see how the air cells look.

They are resting right now. I am so excited about these eggs!!! Here is where I purchased the eggs. https://www.facebook.com/Featherhillfancyfowls . You can see pictures of her gorgeous Croads with that link. There are some pictures of the eggs as well, but they look much better in person.

I would love to share the incubation and hatch with you all and keep up with your adventures as well.

Lisa
OMG Lisa do not read all that! LOL! I was having issues as well but now its working. Have you tried again?

too funny! LISA HAS CROADS!!! ha ha ha!

Welcome and so glad you joined us! I cant wait to see your chicks!!! yay!!! So all air cells are good? that's awesome! I got my CCL from madamwlf here on BYC she is NPIP and she sent me the best packaged and best looking E V E R eggs and all hatched but one infertile! and I got a white CCL chick!

Hello everyone. I am so bored and trying not to go mad crazy at the fact 2 transformers, blew down the road somewhere. So here i sit in my car so i can charge my phone, and cjat with friends. The weather is weird for this time of the year, not complaining, just weird. Only 70* windy as all get out. I have two incubators cooling off and I'm trying not to open. One has chicks in it as they are on day 20 and 21. 7 turkey eggs on day 15 and 16. I wonder if my broody hen would hatch them out for me, any thoughts.
if she is broody why not try!
