I bought one also Sally but didn't get them to get in it much
However I had it hanging on a nail so maybe it was too shakey
Now its a spot upside down to put the food out of the rain. Also good to carry the old stuff out of my tractor coops to dump.Is just the right nestng size though
Now mine prefer in the center of a very large ornamental grass OH well.

I agree I wouldn't ever hatch without one, I can only imagine the temp changes without. And we read about people needing help with horrible hatches with homemade ones without thermostats. But it can be done if you can sit with it and check it every hour or two. But that could get extremely stressful for more than a day or two! do you want this for just lockdown?

Today I set in the bator:

7 cream legbars
5 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas
6 OEs
6 BCM

I think I am finally perfecting my temp and humidity with this being my 5th attempt at incubating.

In the other bator, I should have some hatch Sat/Sun. I'll be interested to see if I do better with the dry hatch method. Lockdown on these tonight.

Look who found his girl in solitary. It was sweet until he called everyone else in and I had to kick them all out. My garage is dirty but chicken poop all over the floor is too dirty.

I agree I wouldn't ever hatch without one, I can only imagine the temp changes without. And we read about people needing help with horrible hatches with homemade ones without thermostats. But it can be done if you can sit with it and check it every hour or two. But that could get extremely stressful for more than a day or two! do you want this for just lockdown?

Ya that black square is a thermostat humidity detractor combo and ya for lockdown but I think I'm gonna just keep em in my bator through lockdown and hope beyond hope

Sooooo, I candled all my Langshan eggs the other night and not ONE bad air cell in the lot of them. I can't believe it! Lot's of movement in all the eggs. I did have 2 clears out of 15 eggs so I am down to 13 at day 12

On day 18 lockdown, what do you make your humidity? Do you take it up at Day 18 or wait until the first internal pip? What about your temp, do you take it up? Just looking for your lockdown routines.

Oh, I love those!

I wish I could get another dog to go with our Whippet. Those Spaniels are pretty active and our little lady laura would have someone to tromp, leap, jump, spin and run around with all day. Oh well, sigh, won't fly with DH. All we can do to keep up $$ with one dog and chickens. Congrats!!!
