Well. I went to a swap meet to sell some older chicks. I ended up only selling 1 scrawny rooster and buying 6 dozen guinea eggs. 11 guinea chicks, 5 Lavender Orp chicks, and 5 buckets. My wife laughed at me when I got home with more than I left With. At least she is laughing.
CHICKEN MATH!!!!!

Chicken word math problem: Doug goes to a swap meet to get rid of a few chickens. While there he gets rid of a few and gains a lot. What is the answer to this problem? Problem?!?!?! There is no problem . . . That's just chicken math!!! ;)

Anyone hatch Chukar yet? I need some pointers, what a pain in the bleep! The chukar are hatching and my bator looks like a murder scene, NEVER EVER had such issues hatching something! They pipped over two days ago, and the pips never opened at all, just cracks, so after a day I pulled a tad off at the pips and saw beaks and let them go, another day and a half!  I should have read up on incubating them, they take much much longer in the rest stage! Do and learn right? slowly one by one they are escaping their confinement! I had one dead stuck in shell so I am assisting a bunch and had like four pop out so far. I just don't get them!
ad same issue with pheasants! Feelin your pain on the learning curve.

I have near 30 eggs going into lockdown tomorrow. These will be my first non-shipped eggs. They are the eggs of our January hatch that are all grown up.

The hatch rate will go a long way to helping us understand the incubation process versus shipped eggs.

Sally had a question about Brahmas. Do there eggs start off small and get bigger as they mature. Mine just started laying. The eggs are very small for such a big bird. lol

Well the little duck has stayed right side up for the most part. bantams and the other youngins got moved out to a kennel pen today. Got to figure out where they will go from here tho. the baby runner ducks have turned the banty run into soup :/ sooo yeah might be project time again. Sounds like the next move may be coming at the end of this month blah. sooooo freaking sick of moving already
Marine what kinda meaties do you raise?

Here are a couple of pics of the 8 week old GL Cochins I got from a fellow BYC member. They are so sweet. I look forward to see ing how they look in their final feathering out although I know they are just PQ.

Roo on left needs his chest feathers! Lol.

In this pic the girl is on the left and boy underneath. Not the best pics but you get to see them. :)
