Sally, Sally! Does the Brahma girls when they start laying take a bit longer for there eggs to harden up?? My Leghorn eggs are fine, but still getting 1 or 2 eggs dropping at night like every other day. Which would mean it's a couple of the Brahmas still doing it. All eating the layer feed. FF. And they have oyster shells which they don't like. Just wondering if it's the breed that takes a bit longer.

Hello everyone, sorry I've been scarce lately. Stuff going on here... Anyway, I may finally be hatching something soon. I found a local breeder that has RIR, BO, as well as Blue, Lilac, Black, White and Splash Australorps for sale. (Chickens and eggs.) I'm thinking about getting some of the Australorp hatching eggs from him, but I want to get some background and more info on his birds first.
I hope everything's okay, we've missed you! Keep us posted on the eggs as to whether you get them or not and why. I love learning from you guys!

Hello!  What's in the bator?
Hi and WELCOME to the thread and BYC!!!!! :)

I'm actually hatching today and I have two SLW and three EEs hatched out or very close right now. In my other bator I have Serama and WFBS crosses from Sally Sunshine.

Feel free to tell us a little about yourself, what you've got in the bator, and any goals or questions you might have. It's a friendly bunch of people on this thread and all are self confessing chicken-aholics to one degree or another.

Quote: So-so, but we're working on it. I'll keep you all posted with the egg situation. I told DH I want to hatch something now. I've waited long enough! If the duck eggs doesn't work out I'll go visit the neighbours, they've got geese, and see if they can supply me.

yes it does, my girls still give me issues, the heat effects them too, I have gotton some out of shape eggs these past two weeks, yesterday they all looked normal. I noticed that my blue hens also have a little bit of deposit spots on their eggs, as the others don't, weird.
