So you know I have hatched enough when I don't take pictures or even remember they are hatching. I just realized I have been hatching a few batches and haven't said or posted anything! I hatched 13 serama last week, I hatched 10 serama two days ago, I hatched some WFSxameraucana or EE whatever birds they are (green blue egg) I hatched a wfs/polish that looks like a wfs no poof. I hatched a single quail from the last of my eggs, rest inferts since the girls ate the boys, ya, ate their heads, was really nasty. And I have brahma hatching now.

I lost two Spitz to the heat that leaves me with one girl and two males, one male is leaving soon. No sense keeping two boys with one girl

just kidding. They can be nasty little cannibals.

That is really nasty. What did the boys to to provoke that kind of violence? I'm trying to hatch some quail eggs right now. You have me a little worried!!

Okay so far I have 2 SLW and 3 EEs from my hatch. There two EEs still alive in the bator trying to hatch.

One SLW was beginning to zip and died from gooey stuff. Three other SLW were fully formed but never even internally pipped. two EEs were the same, they were fully formed but never pipped. :(. What am I doing wrong? It's one thing if they never form but that they were so close . . . Some were still wet, all had wonky air cells, and others were gooey and thick wet inside. :(

I am grateful for my two SLW. I hope at least one is a girl!!

What was your humidity during incubation? I've had that problem a lot this year. I think some of it has to do with the shipped eggs. I read on here somewhere that part of the reason could be that the chicks get too big. The outer membrane gets sort of stretched out during shipping (because of altitude in the airplane and from being shaken up during shipping) They stretched out membrane allows the chick to grow bigger than it would have otherwise. It can't get into position or hatch well. I had really sticky gooey chicks when (in my opinion) I received eggs that were on the old side. Only 4 of the 24 hatched, and they were so sticky that I had to give the poor surviving chicks multiple baths.

I'm sorry. It's so frustrating when you can't figure out what went wrong.
