Today has been insane my cat moved her kittens (she's a first time mom) into a drawer and when she hoped in to feed them squished two of Tahoe three killing them then five min later I look out and see my chicks all over the yard running around they escaped the pen and where trying to find thair way back in we got them all thank goodness and fixed the issue

8 Ameraucanas, 1 Andalusian, 1 Wellsummer 1 Lemon Cuckoo Orp hatched overnight. 17 chicks from 35 in lockdown. The remainder were underdeveloped so had quit over the last week. This is a great step for me as I did not have one drown or poop out after pipping.

One of the Andalusians has scissor beak and a single eye. looks like I may need a few more eggs HFR

18 chukar are pipping.

That's great news!! Do you have any pictures?? Are you going to keep the pirate chick? You could name it Captain Jack Sparrow.

Thats a great name but his name is compost. I dont do special needs chicks. Before too long Bernie will have a special school and maybe a short bus built instead of his regular work.

My memory card did the 130 mile round trip to my father in laws's office and got back to the farm last night. I uploaded what I had yesterday.

I will have Bernie take photos as much as possible and should get it back to civilization in about 10 days - after the Guineas ducks and such.

I am super excited that the Chukars are on their way. I read somewhere yesterday that the eggs are best if you wait three weeks before setting them to let them dry out even more. Unfortunately I do not have anywhere with a 60F environment to store them in.

Too bad about the Andalusian with the scissor beak and single eye. I wonder what went wrong.

Quote: you can have one girl be mean to another and then it gets ugly. Harmony came in screaming one day when it started, it didn't end until Chad took all the birds! I thought they were so nice, until they started that crap. I cant deal with that, its discusting and like oz said cannibals they are. May be best for quick raising and eating, but we didn't even like eating them, if I am going to deal with it I will get meaties that grow fast like we discussed on the processing thread. Not impressed with the meat amount, the taste of "dark" meat the poo stench and the cannibalism was tops!

Sally, I'm so sad to say I had a temp spike and lost all the eggs you sent me.

. I'm going to take a long break from hatching right now. I'm going to care for the ones I have, share some with others, and wait until late winter or early spring to try again. In the meantime, I will research and try to figure out a better way to hatch.

I'm just going to look to find a serama, BCM and Partridge Wyandotte or Rock for sale to add.

I'm sorry Sally! I feel like I failed you with your eggs. ;(
