cut down a regular one.oz how do you make auto turners? I want to make one with a motor for the cooler bators but not sure what I need
i realize im not oz, but here is a turner design i made for larger incubators. the timer motor is a replacement motor for hovabator turners. the switches are available at radio shack, the unlabeled component is a linear actuator available at www.surpluscenter.com this will turn about 200 lbs worth of equipment and eggs, slowly and effeciently.oz how do you make auto turners? I want to make one with a motor for the cooler bators but not sure what I need
Quote: those are expensive or am I missing something? I don't want to spend much, we looked at Chads turner that I have here yet and think we cut off two of the rows, but not sure the cost is worth cutting that many eggs "off" but otherwise wont fit in the cooler. I will research and see what I can find, maybe I will put the egg trays back in and do the entire tile for a hatch and see how they fair.

This might be a little untraditional but I use the plastic egg flats and also take them out after 2 weeks,,,,I seem to get better hatches if I stop turning earlier and lay the eggs on their side for a couple days before moving to the hatcher..(I experiment way to much, and have lots of mutts to show for it)
Quote: No, it's not a dumb question! The hen tucks the egg under her throat, holds it in place with her beak and climbs from one nest box to another with it, before depositing it in the new nest box. A member here caught her hen in the act, moving an egg like that. Mine used to move their eggs between upright, half filled buckets, without breaking any of them.

My bators are washed and about to be stored. Half of my hatches are going to family this Wednesday night. I will be growing out about 14 other chicks plus caring fir my 5 adult birds. I have plans to finish my grow out pen and the coop for my adults with a run. I'm still looking for a Polish, a Silkie, a BCM, and a Partridge Wyandotte to add to my flock but then I will be content for a while.Join the club, except for the pheasant eggMy new ladies are laying well (finally) and I, ever the optimist, checked their first eggs just in case. Not a bullseye in sight *sigh*. And no response to my "duck eggs wanted" ad either :-(
