Hi, glad you joined us!Hello all I'm new and was hoping to join your thread. I ordered eggs on Monday and they are supposed to be shipping out tomorrow (I will receive a confirmation e -mail tomorrow. I only ordered six eggs and I think they are coming from Tennessee and I live in Arizona. So Agh! Probably should have shopped around a bit more.
I read the first pages on this post and I feel more confident that some will hatch. So happy I found this site everyone is so helpful.
I have two questions at this time. . . First do you sanitize your incubator for the first use? Mine has never been used before so there isn't bacteria from eggs or chicks but could the packaging have any? And second do I need to use distilled water? Again I'm like worried about having a nice clean environment for those eggs and crossing my fingers chicks.
I didn't sanitise my incubator and I just wash it carefully between uses. It's important that your hands are clean when you handle the eggs, for example when you turn them.
I use clean tap water in the incubator.
Have you read Sally's hatching article? It's got all the most important info in a nutshell. If you have any more questions, you're welcome to ask them here.
