Oh oh! Before I forget I opened all the duds in my LG to clear room for new eggs and then I carefully opened them. Most were infertile but one was scrabbled and the goose had made it to day 5 or so. And it's air cell was fully detached. I took a vid of it after I took the to shell off but before I opened the inner membrane. Now to make YouTube work...
its a pain not being able to directly upload vids! that one this am took forever via you tube!!

I am trying to play catch up on all my messages and then threads...... but wanted to post first

Had to run Little one to urgent care and they sent him to ER for IV and tests for possible appendicitis, Thank GOD for test results showing not an appendix issue, he was sent home with unknown illness and with antibiotics and a check up tomorrow, is labs were bad, white bloods up and a ton of other things. Still high fevers but at least the motrin brings it down. I am not sure the hospital was a good deal or a bad, look how dirty that place is, I dont feel like I need to clean my house now! Good grief, this was our room at entrance in the ER Pediatrics!!! see image below!

We finally brought him home to rest and I checked that egg I posted the video of is pipped YAY for that at least, image below. I never got to the post office to mail the chicks out

4:30 was the last call for express mail!

And then I opened my mail and LOW AND BEHOLD there is my SPOT CHECK!
It doesnt work and we opened it and the battery is corroded to the point of RUSTING as is the internals on the spot check! NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!
I pray the day ends better than it has started! Now off to get to my messages and then read a zillion threads to catch up!

Still just a pip! its 10 at night, I think we will have a chick running in the bator in the morning! no other pips yet, I think the other silky egg is malpositioned as it didnt drop down like it should but its still moving, I had to check since these are so important to Harmony

so I grabbed it quick and candled.

Well what a day you've had!! So sorry you have a sick kiddo - that is always so hard!! I hope he starts feeling better really soon!!

YAY for pipped egg!! SO exciting!!!!!!

As for the Spot Check... you ordered from Amazon right? From what I remember... it was AvainWeb through Amazon? That's where ours came from too!! And they had the SAME battery problem!!!! They were reading totally inaccurate and when I pulled the battery out it had like green rust on it!! I bought a new battery but honestly I still don't trust it. I contacted Brinsea and the woman who I've been emailing with has been super helpful. I had to provide proof of purchase - even though I didn't buy directly from them. They are shipping me out a brand new one, straight from them tomorrow!!! I highly recommend you contact them (PM me if you'd like and I will give you her direct email address). I wouldn't even go back to Avianweb... obviously something is up with their spot checks! My friend who ordered one with mine is having the same issue too.

Quote: I threw a fit with them, yes same place, she was nice and gave my money back, remember though they already sent me the wrong product and three weeks late! She said brinsea is having issues as they made too many and stored them in a FL storage warehouse and they all got rusty... NOT MY ISSUE! she is taking it up with brinsea!

Sally, Sorry to hear of your little one's illness. Lots of stuff is still floating around out there. The Peds ICU where I work peaked really late this year with resp. and GI illnesses..Hang in there..... I really need some help with some temp. issues if you or others have time to pipe in. I am setting 24 local eggs beginning of May. LG still air w/ auto-turner(always hand turned before). I have 7 thermometers in various spots in my incubator...just trying to get an early handle on regulating temps. One is accurite, 4 red glass bulb and 2 fish aquarium floating therms. They have been accurate with the ice water 32* check for accuracy. All run same except for one I marked runs 2 degrees higher. Temps.(some therms are at mid egg height, some top egg height) under the element reads 104*, outer limits 99*, mid lateral 101.5* and slightly further out 100-ish*. I don't know what to do. Move eggs daily? Don't place under element or outer edges? I'll have early weak hatches and late big bird hatching dry. Am I overthinking? 2 of 15 shipped eggs hatched last spring. I am only using LG till DH gets home from trip (first 7 days), then transferring to Brinsea eco 20. I know I always write too much info...I am a very detailed person. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Lynn Marie

Quote: Thank you scooter, I dont know what to suggest, I have always had a fan. you only have 24 local eggs you say, you can keep them out of hot spots and rotate often yes? and remember what ozexpat says, never put the egg next to the motor for the turner it produces heat as well.

UGH!!! LOVELY so the spot check I may be getting direct from Brinsea could be the same dang problem!? ERRRRR well - I will keep you posted then. I'm glad you got your money back and that they were easy to deal with!!
