wow they are pretty chicks! what do you feed them? can they have med chick starter or do they need something else.

What do you think happened in lockdown that you lost the others besides the shrinked wrap one?

Chick box is genious but expensive to ship in for sure, I bet you would have done even better had they shipped upright in it.
By the looks of the air cell when you got them, how old would you say the eggs were when set?
Yes the keets are pretty but many think the adults are just plain ugly. One fellow that I used to work with referred to guineas as footballs with feet because of their oval shape when viewed from the side.

Guinea keets like turkey poults need a high protein feed. I feed mine turkey game bird starter which is 28% protein. I have seen it recommended to feed them medicated feed and I have also seen it said that they do not require medicated feed. Chick starter is typically too low of a protein.

I have no idea why the last 4 eggs failed but when candled this morning they did not show any signs of life. I can always fall back on the difficulties of hatching eggs at high altitude as it is just a little over 1 mile in elevation here at the house. The last two turkey poults were pretty wet when they hatched and I notice a sticky substance on the 4 remaining guinea eggs. I am guess they suffocated from sufficient oxygen.

As far as shipping the eggs upright versus on their side, I know that there are a lot of other factors involved but the two best hatches I have ever had from shipped eggs had the eggs wrapped in bubble wrap and placed on their sides in the box. For me to get a better than 50% hatch rate on shipped eggs is really good.

These eggs had very small air cells when received spending two days in transit and likely no more than 3 days old when set, and the other batch that hatched well for me had maran eggs with tiny air cells and welsummer eggs with fairly large air cells. That hatch produced 75% hatch on the marans and about a 45% hatch on the welsummers.

The shipped eggs that I have had an absolutely terrible time hatching are the Swedish Flower Hen eggs. It does not seem to have mattered how well they have been packaged but the best hatch from the SFH eggs that I have had was 3 of 12 or 25% hatch. Of course that does not account for the 0 of 12 or 1 of 12 hatches either. The thing that seems to matter the most with SFH eggs that I have received is time from shipping to receiving.

ughhhh I thought since it was skyline driven by youtube it would work, I gotta upload to youtube ughhhh wasted data again!

Early day 19 silky duck
Watch this candle vid of the day 19 eggs.... I have never seen this on any candle of any breeds, note the blood spots that float and deterioration of veins on one side of the egg and note the duckling is still moving in there and the other side looks fine and veins are good! only one egg like this, very very odd to me! I think its dying!
