I want to try that in-ovo feeding, it sounds cool. I might try it on some of my bresse.
Anyway, I came on to present a picture and ask if anyone has seen this before. I had a silkie hatch (on his own, in 15% humidity) and he got out of that egg and sat right up and looked perfectly bright and alert. But when I went to betadine his umbillicus, I noticed that it was attached way up near his thorax, just a little bit under his ribs. It looked more like an opening than a navel and I could see his heart pumping through the membranes (or maybe it was just a major artery). It has closed up now and scabbed over, but his breathing is fast and shallow, though he seems about as bright and alert as his hatch mates. Here's a picture, if anyone can tell me what they think might happen or have happened to him.
